Oh it was a big week here in the Klos family! My first little girl started big kid school in Kindergarten. Wednesday was an exciting day and I was a nervous wreck! Sweet little Ella was so brave-she went calmly to her class with poise and confidence, despite being at a brand new school, with brand new kids, and a brand new teacher. I was so proud! I didn’t expect to be so sentimental or emotional, but after she walked away in line to her school room, I realized how big of a deal starting this new era is. It has been a wonderful 5 years with this cool chic, and I am so thankful for the privilege of being her mom. As I’ve reflected back over the last few years, I remember how much of an answer to prayer Ella is, and how joyful I was after finding out she was a healthy baby girl. Her name Eliana means, “The Lord has answered.” It was a promise meaningful to us when we were blessed with her little life, and I believe her life throughout the years will be a testimony to the truth of that promise as well. God was faithful to us when we prayed for her, and that was only the beginning…
I couldn’t help myself, I just had to pull up a couple of Ella’s newborn pics for the sake of memory lane. Here are a couple photos that made me remember those wonderful newborn days…
…And now, five years later we have this adorable, creative, saucy little school girl who is off to kindergarten! I can’t believe how fast this time has passed me by!
So you know who else is going to kindergarten? Well, Tyler of course! Even though these besties won’t be at the same school this year, they are still celebrating their big kid awesomeness together. Jessica (you can see her kindergarten blog post HERE) and I took these two yahoos out to Reed College for a little kindergarten photo session (it’s fitting that we do their kindergarten pics on a college campus, I mean, they are practically grown up anyways). They had a blast goofing with one another while resisting their best smiles for their overly-zealous photo moms. In the end we were able to bribe them into a few good shots with promises of chewing gum and ice cream after. Here are these two in all their coolness…

I had the same reaction! I had no problems with preschool but was surprised by the sentimental mess Kindergarten made me. Such cute pictures!

I love the one of them eating the apples on the table smiling at each other. SO cute. Mostly I just love all the total spunk you captured from Ella. I can just see her flitting around being silly behind the camera … wait, I did see them both doing that … but I can get the vibe from the pics too :-). So glad we did this. Will be so fun to have them to compare as they grow every year.
